The Charlotte, North Carolina-based company said it had profit of $1.28 per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were $1.30 per share.
The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.66 per share.
The auto dealer posted revenue of $3.99 billion in the period, which also fell short of Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $4.02 billion.
