The Outdoors Are Calling – 4-7 p.m., Sky Tavern Ski Resort, 21130 Sky Tavern Road. Free public panel on Nov. 2 pairs afternoon lift rides, food and drinks with a conversation about growth, access and what comes next

RENO, Nev. (Oct. 22, 2026) – Reno Tahoe added new places to play this year. Three youth soccer fields opened in downtown Reno in June. Design is underway on nearly two more miles of the East Shore Trail. A new access ramp at Tahoe Meadows now makes its boardwalk trails easier for more people to enjoy.

On Monday, Nov. 2, leaders from professional soccer, ski resorts, and adaptive sports will meet at Sky Tavern Ski Resort to discuss what that growth means for local businesses, access, and the places residents value most.

The Outdoors Are Calling, presented by Disrupted Foundations, is free and open to the public. Lift rides begin at 4 p.m. Complimentary food and drinks will be served. The panel discussion runs from 6 to 7 p.m. Space is limited.

The panel

Wendy Damonte, Co-Founder and CEO, Reno City FC

Bill Hudson, Vice President of Skier Services, Palisades Tahoe

Ally Karacozoff, Grants Consultant, High Fives Foundation

Dr. Thomas J. Powell, Chairman of the Board, Sky Tavern

Roy Tuscany, Founder and CEO, High Fives Foundation

Susan Hinchman and Michael Millman, co-founders of Disrupted Foundations, will moderate.

Why it matters

Outdoor recreation generates more than $3 billion in annual economic output in the Tahoe region, according to a Tahoe Regional Planning Agency summary of an economic impact study. Across all visitor activity, tourism generated more than $5.2 billion in economic impact in Washoe County in 2024 and supported more than 43,000 local jobs, according to Visit Reno Tahoe.

The panel will look at how the region can keep that growth working for everyone: first-timers and families, experienced athletes and people of all physical abilities.

“Reno Tahoe’s outdoors drive our economy and shape how we live,” said Hinchman and Millman. “Every new field, trail and adaptive program creates opportunity for local businesses and for people of every age and ability. We’re bringing leaders together to talk about how that growth can welcome first-timers, strengthen our communities and protect the places that make this region special.”

For media

Reporters and photographers are welcome. Panelists and moderators are available for interviews before the 6 p.m. discussion. Lift rides at 4 p.m. offer photo and video opportunities.
